Black U/U Trailblazers
Sunday, February 26, 2023
10:30 am; live streamed from the Sanctuary
Rev. Catie and Sara Elizabeth leading
As we near the end of Black History Month, we celebrate black Unitarian/Universalist trailblazers — or, as black UU minister and historian Rev. Mark Morrison-Reed phrased it, “black pioneers in a white denomination.” From Gloster Dalton and Amy Scott (formerly enslaved black Universalists who were founding members of Universalist congregations in 1785 and 1790, respectively) to the twenty-first century presidencies of Rev. Bill Sinkford and Rev. Dr. Sofia Betancourt (the first black presidents of our denomination), we have so many incredible spiritual ancestors and contemporaries to celebrate! This Sunday service will be multigenerational, with nursery care available.
