Chaplain Clementina Chéry from the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute
Today we will feature special guest,
Chaplain Clementina Chéry. Chaplain Chéry is the founder, president, and CEO of the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute in Boston. The Peace Institute is a center of healing, teaching and learning for families and communities impacted by murder, trauma, grief and loss. They sponsor the annual Mother’s Day Walk for Peace that many First Parish folks participate in.

Chaplain Chery’s journey of healing began when her fifteen-year-old son, Louis, a brilliant student and a peacemaker, was murdered in the crossfire of a shootout. With her former husband, she created the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute to honor Louis’s memory. The tragedy of losing Louis and the strain of launching the Peace Institute ultimately ended Chaplain Chery’s marriage, doubling her hurt and pain. And so she began the personal, professional, and spiritual work to become the architect of her own healing. Guided by the principles of love, unity, faith, hope, courage and forgiveness, Chaplain Chéry demonstrates how the power of each principle, and their collective power, transforms individuals and communities. The invitation is for all who hear to continue on their own journeys to peace and become “the architect of [their] own inner healing.”
