Worship Leader: Cathy Livingston
For several years Cathy has been offering a course at First Parish that grew out of her research on the stages of human development. Composing Our Own Narrative assists participants in viewing their lives as an integrated whole. This past year she attended a weeklong intensive workshop focused on The Spiritual Dimensions of Aging. During her presentation, Cathy will share the major themes associated with reaping the harvest of aging well. Based on this work, she and Helen Lane are launching a new Small Group Ministry session that will explore this topic in depth. Join us on September 4thto learn more about what the curriculum covers. Watch the Bell Notes to learn more about this new Small Group Ministry, including how to join.
Cathy has pursued her interest in the stages of human development since her first year in college. Her doctoral studies at the University of Illinois as well as her professional responsibilities in higher education provided more opportunities to pursue her growing interest in adult development. Her role in creating Lasell Village, the first educational-oriented retirement community in the United States, heightened her awareness of the need to develop more enlightened pathways to assist us with aging well. The spiritual, inner work accompanying aging helps us reflect on our lives, celebrate our life’s journey, and graciously harvest the rewards of aging.
