Cathy Livingston
Cathy will share insights that she has gained from completing a series of workshops focused on Deepening Our Conversations led by the Irish Poet, David Whyte. Engaging in more substantive conversations leads to a greater sense of connectedness, reminding us that we are not “alone.” Building on the caring relationships that already exist within First Parish, we’ll explore how we can embrace our conversations as a ministry, reminding us to celebrate harvesting our gifts of caring.
Upon completing her Doctorate in Education at the University of Illinois, Cathy’s career includes teaching and leadership positions in K-12 and higher education settings as well as running a non-profit working with urban schools. Currently she serves as a consultant to higher education institutions that are committed to improving their success rate in helping the increasingly diverse student population succeed in achieving their goals. Her emerging passion stems from the work that she is facilitating at First Parish, beginning with a course on Composing Your Own Narrative as well as a sequel, Becoming. This work helps us reflect on our lives and celebrate our life’s journey and continuing opportunities for becoming the person we’re capable of being.
