“Sing Out Loud, Sing Out Strong”
“Sing, sing a song;
Sing out loud, sing out strong!
Don’t worry that it’s not good enough
For anyone to hear.
Just sing, sing a song!”
—Joe Raposo

Join in a celebration of favorite hymns and music, weaving together themes of Kindness, Music, and Unity. This year’s Music Sunday features musical guests Sarah Jebian and Stearns Matthews, along with SongSquad, First Parish Singers, First Parish Players, and a virtual choir piece by Elizabeth Alexander.

Sarah Jebian is an award-winning singer and actress, currently serving as the Director of Music & Arts at the UU Congregation of Rockville in Rockville, MD. She also serves as the Moderator of the Association for UU Music Ministries. Along with musical partner Laura Weiss, she released an album of UU Hymns in 2019, “Not Your Mama’s Hymns” which turned out to be particularly useful over this past pandemic year.

Stearns Matthews, a lifelong Unitarian Universalist, has served for three years as Director of Music Ministries at the Morristown Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Morristown, NJ. Prior to that, he served as Assistant Music Director at the UU Congregation at Montclair, NJ. Awards: 2015 Bistro Award for Outstanding Recording; 2015 MAC Awards for Best Male Vocalist and Best Recording for SPARK. His second album is the favorite first-ever recording of the song cycle December Songs (words and music by Maury Yeston) to feature a male singer. Stearns also serves on the voice and musical theater performance faculty at University of the Arts in Philadelphia. BM, Music Theater, Westminster Choir College.
