Join in a celebration of favorite hymns and music, weaving together themes of Kindness, Music, and Unity. This year’s Music Sunday features musical guests Sarah Jebian and Stearns Matthews, along with SongSquad, First Parish Singers, First Parish Players, and a virtual choir piece by Elizabeth Alexander.
Stearns Matthews, a lifelong Unitarian Universalist, has served for three years as Director of Music Ministries at the Morristown Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Morristown, NJ. Prior to that, he served as Assistant Music Director at the UU Congregation at Montclair, NJ. In addition to his UU work, Stearns is an multi-award winning cabaret artist (recent, pre-pandemic appearances include The Town Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Feinstein’s/54 Below, and The Laurie Beechman Theater). Awards: 2015 Bistro Award for Outstanding Recording; 2015 MAC Awards for Best Male Vocalist and Best Recording for SPARK. His second album is the favorite first-ever recording of the song cycle December Songs (words and music by Maury Yeston) to feature a male singer.
