Purpose and Possibility

At First Parish’s last Annual Meeting, we agreed to “live with” a potential updated congregational Purpose statement: “First Parish in Needham cultivates a loving, multigenerational community that nurtures learning and spiritual growth, meaningful relationships, and mutual care to create a more just, compassionate, and sustainable world.”

This Sunday, we’ll consider the relationship between purpose and possibility, and among risk, fear, and courage — and, how we can face resistance to change in our personal lives and faith community. We’ll have music offered from our music directors, Laura Nevitt and Chris Lockman. This is also our “RE Kickoff Sunday,” when our kids and preteens will be “sung out” of Sunday worship for a special All Kids Together program from our religious educator John Newhall, music director Laura Nevitt, and many of our amazing volunteer RE teachers.
