Universal Mother, lead by Ministerial Intern Darrah Bryans

Sunday May 12th, 2024 at 10:30 am, livestreamed to YouTube from the Sanctuary.

On this Mother’s Day Sunday, First Parish will be engaging in a whole congregation action for the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute (LDBPI). While a team of First Parishioners walks the 4.2 mile course in Dorchester with hundreds of other participants, the congregation will gather for our worship service in our sanctuary. Together we will explore the idea of universal motherhood; the idea that we are all the parents of every child, regardless of our gender or identity. This is a multigenerational service that will include embodied spiritual practices. We will have the opportunity to choose between a mini-walk in Needham center, putting together reentry kits for the LDBPI, card writing, walking a labyrinth, or artwork. After the service we will have a celebration as we welcome home our team of walkers who went to Dorchester for the official walk. You are encouraged to bring a treat to share during this special social hour celebration.

We need donations of the following items for putting together the Luis D. Brown Peace Institute Reentry Kits:

  1.   New socks for men and women
  2.   Masks
  3.   Hand sanitizer
  4.   Personal care items: tooth brush, tooth paste, soap, shampoo

Please bring items to church with you on Sunday and leave them in the Parish Hall for our Spiritual Practices during the service.
