Purpose Project, Round 2

As described in a recent post, Why Are We Here?, the First Parish Purpose project is an initiative to articulate our unique identity in a compelling statement that will help unite and inspire us as a community. The first step in the process was a Pizza dinner on March 17th, which was a huge success as 24 people engaged with the topic of describing the essence of First Parish and what it means to each of us.

The raw responses from those conversations have been captured and transcribed into a document that will be the foundation for the next round of the project when we will look at a set of key phrases shared.

This next session will be held in person, on Sunday, April 14th, before the service. The discussion will begin at 9:00, but come early at 8:45 for bagels and/or coffee. Please send an email to the Purpose Project team ( if you plan to attend, so we know how much breakfast to bring.

We recognize that several people will not be able to participate in person, so we have set up an evening Zoom session to provide an opportunity to weigh in collaboratively on the first question we asked:

What value do you find or experience at First Parish that you can’t find elsewhere?

That session will be held on Tuesday, April 9th at 7:00 pm EDT at the following link: This session is open to everyone, especially those who could not attend the original pizza dinner on the 17th.
