Our House for Hope

Our former minister Rev. John Buehrens dedicated his 2010 co-authored book A House for Hope to “the members of First Parish in Needham.” For our annual History Sunday, we’ll revisit selections from A House for Hope alongside stories of dedicated Unitarian/Universalists who courageously worked for positive change in broader society and within our faith tradition. Rev. Catie created this liturgy, and is grateful to the First Parishioners who will lead the November 9th service while she is out of town at a family funeral. Remember, plan to stay after social hour for our hymn sing of the new UU virtual hymnal, Sing Out Love!

Choosing Hope Service Series

During our ministry theme month on “Choosing Hope,” services led by Rev. Catie will interconnect and interrelate. Here are the different aspects of Hope that the upcoming Sundays will address:

November 2: collective hopelessness and competing philosophies about hope

November 9: our faith tradition’s history as a “house for hope”

November 16: personal despair and resiliency

November 23: choosing hope congregationally
