Worship Leader: Dr. Cathy Livingston
Dr. Livingston will share her thoughts on why we will need to Listen to Our Souls Speak as we face the challenges ahead of us as we rebuild our lives and our nation in the post-pandemic environment. True to her interests and tradition, she will use her current work in higher education to illustrate why we need the guidance and tenacity of our souls if we are going to succeed in supporting underserved students achieve their goals of college completion.
Upon completing her doctorate in Education at the University of Illinois, Cathy’s career includes teaching and leadership positions in K-12 and higher education settings. In 2006, she assumed the CEO position of a non-profit in Boston working with Boston Public Schools to help students strengthen their math skills and their resilience. In addition to serving as a consultant to higher education institutions, she is pursuing her interest in the spiritual aspects of aging. Most recently she is offering courses at First Parish on Composing Your Own Narrative as well as a sequel, Becoming, in which participants complete a life review that serves as a platform for choosing future directions. Her personal interests include engaging in creative endeavors, making time for joy and balance in her life, and trying to stay one-step ahead of the two darling cats that are training her as their human.
