The Poor People’s Campaign is a national organization that works
politically to confront the interlocking evils of systemic racism, poverty,
ecological devastation, and the war economy. Four members of the
Massachusetts chapter will discuss and share about their upcoming Poor
People’s Campaign Congress this summer in Washington, D.C., and their
Third Reconstruction project which aims to end poverty and low wages
from the bottom up.
Dr. Savina Martin, the TriChair of the MA Poor People’s Campaign
(MAPPC) is a minister, activist and organizer from Roxbury and currently
living on the South Shore of Boston. She is a member of the Kairos Center
for Religious Rights and Social Justice’s Poverty Scholars Leadership
Development team. She will bring to the Lyceum a small delegation of
other MAPPC folks, including Bill Larkin, Faith Leader; Amelia Slawsby,
Episcopal Network and MAPPC Communications Coordinator; and Dan
Fields, Episcopal Network.
