Lane Lyceum: From Prison to Progress: Re-entering the Community

by | Apr 5, 2024

In person: April 7, 2024, 12:15 – 1:15 PM

Simple lunch available (fundraiser for youth service trip)

The ripple effects of a tragedy like a shooting keep reverberating through our society long after the event – including a period of imprisonment of those convicted followed by release back to their families and communities.  What can be done to help these returning citizens succeed and help the community to continue to heal – creating cycles of peace rather than violence?

Community Reentry Services Program (CRSP) is a reintegration program that creates a pipeline from prison to progress for men in Massachusetts correctional facilities.  The program helps reunite participants with their families and provides wraparound services that include employment, education, mentorship, housing and diverse counseling services.

Our speaker is Milton Jones, Director of Re-entry Services at the Peace Institute. Enjoy a simple lunch prepared by the youth of First Parish (donation suggested, fundraising their service trip) at 12:15 while learning more about the Peace Institute’s important work.

Milton comes with a humble spirit, believing that a unified team is much greater than a single one. Prior to coming to the Peace Institute, Milton has worked in team-building and supervisory roles in health care and non-profit settings. Milton was educated at Fitchburg State College where he studied Psychology and Business Administration. Milton has served on the Board of Directors of several non-profit organizations where he has also functioned as a group facilitator.
