On Tuesday night, Dec 1st, the Lane Lyceum hosted Harvard professor and renowned author Arthur Brooks, who led an upbeat and inspiring discussion on finding happiness – during this pandemic period and beyond.
Drawing on insights from his books, including Gross National Happiness, his regular column in The Atlantic “How to Build a Life”, and his podcast series “The Art of Happiness“, Professor Brooks addressed topics such as:
- The Hedonic Treadmill
- The Satisfaction Equation (satisfaction = haves/wants)
- Loneliness and isolation: Why are they painful?
- Social media bingeing as a sub-optimal remedy
- Transitions and “Lifequakes”
