For our first Congregational Virtual Field Trip we will be viewing a full service from the UU Church of Columbia Missouri.  This is the congregation in which Sally Fritche grew up and where Rev Molly Housh Gordon has been a minister since she was ordained by our own congregation over ten years ago. Some of us saw her recently when she had a part in the ordination service for Rev Sally.
In the midst of the current uprising to Defend Black Lives, a public dialogue has emerged about the idea of de-funding and even abolishing police departments. During their online worship service on Sunday, June 14, 2020, the parishioners of the UU Church of Columbia Missouri learned about the contemporary abolition movement from their minister, the Rev. Molly Housh Gordon. In her sermon titled “Can You Imagine?” she also explored what community safety requires and what our faith is asking of us.  Can we imagine a world beyond policing?

After viewing this recent inspiring service through our own Zoom meeting please stay for the First Parish Social Hour to meet with friends and discuss your thoughts and feelings about how this other congregation is coping with the pandemic and how you respond to the challenges and insights laid out by Rev. Molly.

Look for the link to our Zoom meeting in your Saturday email from First Parish.
