Announcing Temporary First Parish RE Assistant

The Parish Committee, Religious Exploration (RE) Committee, and I are excited to share that our long-time member Priscilla Mullin has agreed to act as First Parish’s temporary quarter-time (10 hrs/week) RE Assistant, from now until the end of the church year (June 2025). As many of you know, this year, my position was configured to be 20 hours/week with the support of a 10 hour/week assistant. Ministerial Intern Darrah Bryans stayed on in the RE Assistant role through the end of December, to allow for a significant overlap between the two of us as I got reacquainted with the RE program here at First Parish, but we knew we would have to find coverage for an RE Assistant between January and June.

Because my position is an Acting Minister of Religious Exploration position, there is a lot of discernment we all will be doing in the coming months about the RE office and staff needs in coming years, so in order to give the RE program the most flexibility for the 2025-2026 church year, we decided only to hire someone to cover January–June, at which point we began looking internally.

Priscilla will be supporting me and the RE program administratively and organizationally, as well as helping to cover programming on my Sundays off.

Priscilla has been attending First Parish since ~1999, and raised her own two children in the RE program at FPN. Priscilla was a kindergarten aide in Needham  for almost twenty years, and, at First Parish, has served the RE program as a volunteer in a variety of ways over the years, from serving for a time as a Senior Youth Group Advisor to working with our youngest as a co-teacher for our World of Wonder class. We are so thrilled to have Priscilla on board for these next few months!
