 Announcing our 2022-2024 Ministerial Intern

by | Apr 27, 2022

The Ministerial Intern Committee, Parish Committee, and Rev. Catie are thrilled to announce that Darrah Bryans will join our staff team this fall as our 2022-2024 ministerial intern! Welcome, Darrah!

Here’s a message from Darrah herself:

Hi First Parish in Needham! My name is Darrah Bryans, and I am so excited to be your ministerial intern starting in the fall. I am currently finishing the second year of a Master of Divinity at BU’s School of Theology. (A fun fact, Jenna Crawford was my peer mentor during my first semester at STH. She was such a great help, talking me down off the ceiling as I struggled to make my way through the first semester classes.) I will be doing my CPE this summer at Hebrew Senior Life, so I will be arriving at your doorstep exhausted, uplifted, and full of new experiences and pastoral care knowledge.

I come to ministry late-ish in life. I have a MA in International Policy Studies from the Monterey Institute for International Studies, that I briefly put into use while the Cold War was still “hot.” I have my Braumeister and Malzmeister certification from the State of Bavaria, earned after studying at Doemens Fachakademie near Munich. I brewed for the now defunct Brew Moon in Cambridge before hanging up my boots when I became a mom.

I currently live in Natick with my husband and our two nearly adult children, Zoë who is in college and Campbell who is in high school. We are also blessed to have Percy, a 10-year-old cockapoo, share our home with us. My family and I have been members of the UU Area Church at First Parish in Sherborn (UUAC) since our children were in preschool. Percy and I currently work at UUAC; I am the Membership Development and Communications Coordinator, and Percy is the official church dog and enthusiastic greeter of all who come in the door.

When I’m not working or studying, I love getting together with friends, hiking with my family, curling up with a good book, gardening and baking.
