Louis D. Brown Peace Institute. Founded in 1994 by Chaplain Clementina Chéry after her son Louis was shot and killed in crossfire on a Dorchester street, The Peace Institute’s mission is to serve as a center of healing, teaching, and learning for families and communities impacted by murder, trauma, grief, and loss. Their programs include direct services to grieving families and communities; legislative advocacy for support services and gun reform; peace-building curriculum for K-12 students, for aspiring anti-racist allies, and for those healing from violence; and, trainings for service providers locally and nationwide.
