For Parents

First of all, thank you for sharing the blessings of your children’s lives with us. Here at First Parish we truly believe it is an honor to play a role in nurturing the spirits, minds and emotions of all children who join us for worship, study and play. Each child in our program enriches the community beyond measure and we are grateful for their presence among us.
This section of our website is for you, the parents of our RE children. Here you’ll find a number of resources, reminders and points of interaction. From materials designed to help you bring RE into your home life more meaningfully, to updates and information about upcoming services, you’re likely to find this space useful and rewarding. We invite you to engage with other parents here as well, and to use this space to more fully connect to the DRE and Minister.
As a cooperative educational program and as a result of our Unitarian Universalist values in action, we believe that all adults in the community have an obligation to protect and nurture the children in our congregation. In particular, each parent of a child in the program agrees, after an initial one-year period, to volunteer in our religious education program in some capacity. While most parents choose to co-teach a class, others assist the program through leadership, administrative support, and filling special programming needs as they arise. You can check out the various volunteer jobs available here. (Volunteer Roles PDF) As we prepare for each new academic year, you’ll be approached by the Director of Religious Education and the Religious Education Committee to match your gifts with the program’s needs.
