The High School Youth Group

The First Parish in Needham High School Youth Group is open to all interested high school students. It is led by a paid youth advisor who also works as the intern minister of the church. Currently, the group has approximately 30 youth. Most meetings are held Sunday evening, at 7 pm, at the church. We invite you to come and check us out!Activities: The overriding goal of the group is to have fun. Activities include sleep-overs, indoor rock climbing, pancake breakfasts to raise money for good causes, and serving many organizations in the city. We also have an annual service trip, which has included service efforts in New Orleans, Dorchester, Holyoke, and Appalachia. The youth group also discusses issues of interest to youth.

Popcorn Theology: The Junior High Youth Group
The Junior High Youth Group, formed in the Fall of 2011, recognizes the need to provide alternative points of connection for 6th thru 8th graders. The format, known as “Popcorn Theology” has been used at many other UU congregations. Each monthly gathering centers on a popular mainstream film, chosen as a way to explore the real-life issues facing youth.  In keeping with our Safe Congregations practices and principles, the group will be facilitated by two adults who have met all criteria. All youth within this grade range are welcome to join.  Parents can register their children by contacting Mark LaPointe at dre@uuneedham.org, or in person at any meeting
