Kids (ages 10 and under)
First Parish in Needham is proud to offer a comprehensive preschool through eighth grade Religious Exploration program that meets on Sunday mornings during the school year. Each of our 10 classes is taught by a team of dedicated, volunteer guides, generally parents, who are trained and supported by a professional Director of Religious Exploration. RE teachers must undergo a CORI background check with the Commonwealth and commit to good, ethical relations in our classrooms.
Our curriculum is selected to help children and youth grow ethically, spiritually, and intellectually. We stress good citizenship; personal health; ethics and morals; and, of course, Unitarian Universalist teachings and principles. From time to time, students will engage in experiential learning through service projects and field trips.
In addition to our Sunday morning classes, we offer a number of special programs, including our:
- Milestones Program
- Children’s Worship services
- Multigenerational worship
- Family events
In December, we study winter holidays and present an annual Festival of Lights
Every spring we have a dedicated Spirit of Earth month which emphasizes environmental stewardship and the interconnected Web of Life.
Infants and toddlers are welcomed in our nursery where we provide free, professional care during Sunday worship. We invite all children to join our Religious Exploration classes. While membership in the church is not required and there are no fees for RE, we do require that parents/guardians complete a registration form in order to participate.
