John Buehrens is Retiring — And You’re Invited to Help Him Celebrate

By , Published on April 30, 2017

June 18, 2017, marks my Dad’s last Sunday at UUSF — and with it, the end to this official last chapter of his parish ministry. It also happens to coincide with his 70th birthday, his & Gwen’s 45th wedding anniversary, and Father’s Day!

So… we are assembling a book of remembrances, thanks, well wishes, etc., from his loved ones around the country. Colleagues, parishioners, former interns, you name it. Summit, Knoxville, Dallas, All Souls NYC, UUA, his travels to Japan and India, the UUSC, Needham, Freedom to Marry, Starr King, World Conference on Religion and Peace, the books… and I am sure I’m missing some things.

Needless to say, Needham is a key part of his career. It would be fantastic if members of the congregation and staff wanted to contribute a card to the book. The cards will be included in the book which will  be presented to him that weekend, when we honor his impact on UUism and so many lives.

They can be sent to:

Erica Buehrens Murray
18 Jade Place
San Francisco, CA 94131

or emailed to

And if anyone wants to acknowledge/celebrate his ministry the next time they donate to a worthy social justice cause, that might be a great way to keep his work going!

With many thanks,

Erica Buehrens Murray
