Just out of college and pre-Affordable-Care-Act, I took two “gap years” (as they’re now called). First, I worked at a Boston charter school, serving as a full-time tutor for five wonderful high schoolers. Greed: A Deadly Spiritual Poison

As we enter a month when our spiritual theme is “abundance and stewardship,” like Sweet Honey in the Rock, “I been trying to think about how to talk about greed.” As the group sings,

“Greed is a poison rising in this land…
Greed is a strain in the American Dream
Having more than you need is the essential theme.
Everybody wanting more than they need to survive
Is a perfect indication, greed has settled inside.”

Peace Through Democracy, or “Order” Through Tyranny

One night on the boat, I learned that they were showing Star Wars: The Force Awakens in their “theater under the stars” on the upper deck of the ship.
