It is time to sign up to teach Religious Exploration classes for the 2017-2018 year. As many of you know, the RE program is run on a co-op model. The expectation is that all families with a child in the RE program will have at least one adult volunteering as an RE teacher during the year. Of course, you don’t need to be a parent to be teacher in the RE program – others in the congregation are also encouraged to volunteer. Our RE program provides a very valuable experience for our children, and it is the reason many new people join our congregation. Yet, without enough volunteers, it is impossible to provide the strong RE program that meets the needs of our church. Once they get started, most RE teachers find that they really enjoy the experience – they learn as much as the kids do and they have fun doing it. It’s also a great way to meet more people in the congregation. To sign up to teach the class of your choice, go to http://www.signupgenius.com/go/20F0A4FA4AF2DA46-teacher1

The Religious Exploration Committee invites you to join us at the annual RE potluck and karaoke night! The potluck will kick off at 4:00 and karaoke will run from 5:00 – 8:00 on Sunday, May 7 in Parish Hall. Bring your favorite dish and show off your inner rock star (or just enjoy the song stylings of your fellow First Parish families). Let Jim Long know if you have any special requests for songs you’d like to see included. We hope to see you there!
First Parish is recruiting teachers for next year’s RE program. You do not need to be actively parenting to teach. You do not need to know everything there is to know about Unitarian Universalism. All that is required is about 12-20 hours time over the course of the whole year, a lot of love, a little bit of silliness, and a healthy dose of willingness to grow. Sign up at social hour, or by visiting http://www.signupgenius. com/go/20f0a4fa4af2da46-teacher .
RE teachers are invited to a Soiree happening in “The Parlor” featuring drinks and apps to toast “Transition Sunday”. It’s happening Saturday evening, January 23 from 6-8 pm in lieu of our usual January breakfast. Childcare will be available — RSVP if needed.
Sorta makes you want to think about being an RE teacher!
