On Sunday, June 25th, our First Parish Summer Services will start in Parish Hall at 10:30am and continue each Sunday through September 3rd. Before each service, we will collect food and miscellaneous items to give to the Needham Food Pantry as we have done for the past three years. We hope you will participate in being a “Summer Sustainer” for the Needham Food Pantry this year! The “WISH LIST” for each Sunday’s donation includes the following foods: canned fruit, cereal, 100% juice (plastic bottles & juice boxes appreciated), canned seafood (tuna, salmon, crabmeat, clams, etc.) canned meat (chili, beef stew, small canned ham, etc.), honey, jam/jelly, fresh fruits, veggies/potatoes, oil (olive, vegetable, canola), salt & pepper, brown rice & rice mixes. Miscellaneous items are: toilet paper, aluminum foil, tissues, paper towels, bar soap, dishwashing liquid, dishwasher detergent, liquid laundry soap, coffee, peanut butter, shampoo, and toothpaste. Note: We have volunteers signed up to collect and deliver items in late June, all July, and early August. If you want to help collect and deliver items in mid-to-late August or Labor Day Weekend, please contact Marguerite Robbins. Happy Summer to all!!

Be a SUMMER SERVICES SUSTAINER for the Needham Community Council’s Food Pantry. Simply bring a food item or a small household item to each summer service you attend this summer in Parish Hall, starting on June 26th at 10:30 You can select which food item you want to bring by viewing the Monthly Food Pantry Wish List on the Council’s website, or you can select a small household item you want to bring by viewing the Items Always Needed list. These lists are available online at: needhamcommunitycouncil.org. Just click on “Food Pantry” followed by “Food Donations Wish List.”

FYI – The Needham Community Council is a private, non-profit organization which supports people in Needham who have under-met health, educational, or social needs. It promotes volunteerism, community, and a sense of shared responsibility. The Needham Food Pantry serves 200 Needham families per month from September through June with the support of various Needham groups which run food drives for the Pantry. In July and August these groups take a summer break.

Last summer First Parish collected items for the Food Pantry on Sunday mornings before each summer service. On Monday mornings the items were taken to the Pantry. This year we look forward to our second year, collecting items and delivering them to the Food Pantry. Please join us. It’s fun! It’s helpful! It’s greatly appreciated!
